Summary
Written by the summariserMove the codex-lb runtime dashboard to a tabbed layout with an account workload-shift view and fuller metric coverage, then apply the same display preferences across the GitSync dashboards and flag retirement candidates.
Rob asked for the codex-lb runtime dashboard to be tabbed, extended to cover all codex-lb metrics, and given a view of workload shifting across accounts. The agent rebuilt it in place with nine tabs of native Grafana panels, including stacked account streams, share and activity timelines, and a telemetry coverage table. A metric audit found 44 of 70 declared metric families present, and gaps are labelled rather than shown as healthy zeros. Rob then asked for readable account names, so the agent mapped the live account IDs to aliases from the codex-lb database and moved legends to right-hand tables with fixed colours. Next, Rob asked for the same preferences across the 63 dashboards in the GitSync repo, which child agents audited in parallel before changes were pushed and reconciled. After Rob approved six retirements, those dashboards were archived and removed, while the OpenAI Admin dashboard was kept pending an admin key.
What came out of it
- codex-lb runtime dashboard updated in place at the same URL: nine tabs, 104 panels, previously one long row layout of 86 panels.
- Account shifts tab shows concurrent streams per account, each account's percentage share, an activity timeline and current stream counts; these describe concurrent work, not completed-request shares or confirmed session migrations.
- Added a latency heatmap, health indicators and a telemetry coverage table; native panels were used, with no additional plugins.
- Metric audit: 44 of 70 declared codex-lb metric families present; five have no producer code. Gaps are labelled on the dashboard and tracked in LAB-0022.
- Account IDs mapped to display names from the codex-lb database (all five live accounts matched; nine stored accounts have an alias or email), kept in dashboard field overrides.
- 88 graph and timeline legends moved to right-hand tables; distinct fixed account colours; all 24 rows across nine tabs default to expanded.
- GitSync repo: 63 dashboards audited; dashboard display preferences added to AGENTS.md; all 896 rows default expanded; 47 dashboards use native tabs.
- Fixed malformed table transformations, datasource defaults on two dashboards, and Meraki 'All' filters that excluded devices without name labels.
- Changes pushed to main and reconciled by GitSync for the exact commit.
- Archived and removed from GitSync and confirmed absent from the live stack: Proxmox via Prometheus, Prometheus NUT Exporter, Celery Monitoring, GitLab Project Overview, and the unused 'dashboard' and 'New dashboard' drafts. 57 dashboards remain.
I wanted the codex-lb runtime dashboard split out of its 86-panel row layout into tabs, with enough extra panels to cover every codex-lb metric. I was most curious about a view of how work moves between accounts over time.
I rebuilt it in place so the URL still works. It now has nine tabs and 104 panels, all built from Grafana's own visualisations, so no extra plugins were needed. The account tab shows concurrent streams per account as a stacked area, each account's percentage share, an activity timeline and current stream counts. These show work running at the same time. They aren't completed-request counts, and they don't prove a session has moved between accounts.
Checking coverage was sobering. Of the 70 metric families the deployed code declares, 44 are showing up, and five have no code updating them. Rather than let a missing series look like a healthy zero, I labelled those gaps and added a telemetry coverage table. The companion exporter has produced no samples for six hours, which is still open.
The account IDs were hard to read, so I pulled the aliases from the codex-lb database. All five live accounts matched. The names are display labels over the unchanged IDs. The mapping is static, so new accounts won't get names until I set up a live lookup. I also moved graph legends into tables on the right, which I prefer, and gave each account a fixed colour.
I then applied the same display preferences to the 63 dashboards in our GitSync repo, with agents auditing them in parallel. That surfaced malformed table transformations Grafana was silently dropping, two dashboards on the wrong default datasource, and a Meraki "All" filter that hid devices without name labels. I fixed those, expanded rows by default and moved 47 dashboards onto native tabs. GitSync reconciled the pushed commit cleanly.
I archived and removed six dashboards I'd chosen to retire: two old exporter dashboards with live replacements, a Celery Flower dashboard with no pipeline behind it, a GitLab overview whose datasource was gone, and two blank drafts. That leaves 57.
I kept the OpenAI admin costs dashboard. Its datasource is missing, and the key I have stored is a project key that the costs endpoint rejects, so it needs an organisation admin key before it can work again.
Still open: the five metric families without producers, that admin key, and a few runner and FlightAware dashboards I haven't confirmed.
Left open
- OpenAI Admin API dashboard retained. Its Infinity datasource can be restored with the original UID, but the indexed credential is a project key and the costs endpoint returned HTTP 403, so restoration waits for an organisation admin key.
- Five declared codex-lb metric families have no producer code. The codexlb2otel metrics had no samples for six hours, and its old PostgreSQL datasource was absent. These gaps are tracked in LAB-0022.
- Account names are a static mapping; future accounts would need a live datasource join or an exported name metric.
- Runners and FlightAware dashboards were kept for investigation because their collection configuration is present but data was not confirmed.
- Several intermediate check commands exited non-zero during the session. The agent reported final validation, independent review and reconciliation as passing.
